The museum has a new exhibit showcasing the Law Enforcement. Art & LaVerne Schenk donated many of the items in the exhibit and helped create the exhibit.
Elevate the Museum
Monday evening, the Board and several members attended a preview of the next phase of the construction. Most of the discussion was about the new bathrooms and how they will look. Bids will be going out this week. The electrical phase will be presented after the bathrooms are under construction.
Independence Historical Museum & Art Center launched the event called "Elevate the Museum", a Five-year Renovation Pledge Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise funds to make the 100 year old building more accessible and safer to members and visitors.
The first phase on the renovation is complete. The ribbon cutting for the Ramp was held June 12, 2015.

The Museum will receive 20% of all purchases made between October 28th and December 12th. We will continue to receive 5% from December 13th through to October 27, 2016.
E-certificates are available for $25 each. The Museum receives $10 from each one purchased. There is a limit of one per customer. A sample order form is here. Calling all Artists

Steve Greenwall's classes: He will be giving 1/2 day classes and several months following at $20 each for Museum Members or $25 for non-members. These training classes are usually held the third Monday mornings. Call the museum for updates. Our regular painting days will be returning to the second and fourth Monday mornings.
Class on Fix-it
We will be having classes on using the techniques described in the fixit book by Tony Van Hasselt in the future - dates to be determined. If you are interested in this class, call (620) 331-3515 and leave your name and email or phone number so that we can upadate you on the requirements for the class. A small fee of $5 will be charged for the class.
Monte Toon will return in the fall for a one day training classes with the Art Club. Cost of $40 for Museum members and $45 fo non-members.
Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame
The Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame will be moving to ICC soon. Read all about it in the April newsletter.
Luncheons are held each month on the second Friday at Noon from September through May. Be sure to make reservations each month by calling 620-331-3515. The current month's newsletter lists the menu for the day.
Wi-FI is now available in the museum for your use. You can research your family history or other research items.. You can bring your own computer, or use one of the computers available. The WIFI and the coffee bar are open during regular business hours.
